Aero Markdown 1.0
The first release of Aero Markdown: a native Mac reader for the Markdown folders already on your disk.
Reading
- One window in three parts: file tree, rendered page and heading outline.
- Open a single Markdown file or a whole folder, where it already lives.
- Follow relative links inside the folder, with back and forward, and move to the next or previous document.
- Headings, lists, task lists, tables, highlighted code, local images, Mermaid diagrams, GitHub alerts, footnotes and math. Highlighting, Mermaid and KaTeX ship inside the app.
- Serif, Sans or Mono, with size, width, line spacing, zoom and appearance controls.
Files and coding agents
- Automatic reload, on by default: when the open file changes, the page reloads at the current heading.
- Unsaved edits are kept if the file changes on disk.
- Optional local hooks let Claude Code, Cursor and Windsurf open the Markdown they write in the existing window.
Sharing and Finder
- Print, export to PDF or save a local HTML file.
- A Finder Quick Look extension previews Markdown files.
Privacy and requirements
- Fully offline. No account, no cloud library, no background analytics.
- Requires macOS 14 or later.
